I have been a die-hard Bond movie fan for decades and each
movie has seen by me at least twenty times… I go to the bond movies for
Gadgets, Dashing Debonair attitude, exceptional action sequences, special
effects evolving with the current technologies and of course Bond Girls. The
witty dialogues that happen between the villain/girls/Q/M/MoneyPenny and bond
were increasingly appealing as I grew from a young boy to a mature adult (my
wife still disagrees with the mature part…) and as the intent/meaning of the
wit became more apparent. Similarly the technical gadgets also evolved with my understanding
and appreciation of technology. So in essence I had a good thing going – now along
comes “the new better bond” franchise, the ugliest bond of all and even uglier
heroine. Since Casino Royale I am feeling let down, with attempts to introduce emotion
and sensitivity to Bond.
Folks, if those were truly requirements then intelligence agencies
will hire from feminists and national commission for women -- for their agents and bosses, begin
discussions on whether something can be resolved through dialogues and finally,
remove all action.
Things have gotten so bad, that “Ek Tha Tiger” was really much more
enjoyable than SKYFALL ! Ayan has better action and story than skyfall !!! It
appears that Bond is after an Oscar award. Surprisingly, critics are ranting
and raving and giving a huge thumbs up - for this “humanizing of Bond”. Not
just bond this non-sense is being played out with Batman/SuperMan etc. Folks, I
hate to break it to you… these are supposed to be super hero movies and even the
humans are supposed to be out of the ordinary… Even in bond movies, whether it was Halle Berry, or Michelle Yeoh -- women spies were also being showcased as equally capable and just as ruthless as bond. Even Spy Who Loved Me a while ago, had a ruthless Russian female equivalent...
Too bad that Bond franchise is increasingly politically correct. If this
is what a bond movie is going to be all about in the future, I will settle down
to watching tear jerk-er soaps and movies. Only thing that will be extra are duets, dancing in groups and running around trees…
Time to update all my earlier bond movie collections to blu-ray and settle down comfortably at home. It is not safe to leave the comfort of your home for the latest bond movie. Unless a 3d version of those earlier ones is released, no way I am coming back..
Very disappointed.... and yes, still die a hard bond fan... All is not lost, still there is still Steven Seagal...
